Overview

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines and railways. Civil engineering is traditionally broken into a number of sub-disciplines. It is the second-oldest engineering discipline after, military engineering and it is defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering. Civil engineering takes place in the public sector from municipal through to national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies. Civil Engineering program at Bakhtar University is to deal with the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of structures and the infrastructure. These include buildings, foundations, bridges, transportation facilities, nuclear and conventional power plants, hydraulic structures, and other facilities essential to society. An ability to design, implement, and evaluate field projects to meet desired needs, within economic, environmental, social, political, health and safety constraints is the target behind civil engineering. The program enables the student to practice civil engineering using up-to-date techniques, skills, and tools as a result of life-long learning ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data. The course benefits the students by giving them understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities. The department aims to provide students with a technical foundation incorporated with the industrial need together with the breadth needed in the profession via advanced study or field training, or as a base for other pursuits.
